Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria Youths in Politics (NYiP) has decorated the Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Senate, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, as an NYiP Ambassador, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to youth development, education, and community service.

The honour followed Senator Nwebonyi’s recent commitment of ₦100 million to an Education Support Fund, an initiative aimed at expanding educational opportunities and empowering young Nigerians through access to quality education.

In addition to the ambassadorial recognition, the Senator was presented with the NYiP Education and Youth Empowerment Champion Award for his sustained investment in initiatives that positively impact young people and vulnerable communities.

According to Nigeria Youths in Politics, Senator Nwebonyi has distinguished himself through people-centred leadership, including the construction of over 100 houses for indigent families and the implementation of several economic empowerment programmes benefiting women and youths across his constituency.

At 45 years old, Senator Nwebonyi is regarded as one of Nigeria’s emerging young parliamentary leaders whose record of public service continues to inspire a new generation of political leaders.

Speaking after receiving the honours, Senator Nwebonyi reaffirmed his belief in the capacity of young Nigerians to transform the nation.

“There is hope for Nigeria in its young people in politics. I am an agent of change, and I charge every young person to become an agent of positive change.”

President of Nigeria Youths in Politics, Hon. Blessing Oyefeso, said the recognition aligns with the organisation’s commitment to promoting exemplary leadership and encouraging elected officials to prioritize impactful service delivery.

“Leadership is service to the people. Through this recognition, we hope to inspire more legislators to invest in their constituents, particularly young people, and serve as worthy role models for the next generation of leaders.”

The recognition forms part of NYiP’s broader mission to celebrate public office holders whose commitment to education, youth empowerment, and community development reflects the values of responsible and transformational leadership.
